Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Connecticut

landlord/tenant

I would like to know if I am in a position to do anything regarding my situation. My landlord barged in my apartment without knockin to see what temperature the thermostat was on ond then turned it off. She then threatened to evict me because she said she is fed up with section 8 tenants. I told her she was trespassing and I would call the police, so I did. She also told the police that she was going to evict me. She has not pursued any eviction process though. What can I do about this?

Re: landlord/tenant

Generally a landlord may enter a tenant's dwelling but must do so without violating your privacy. It is a delicate situation. What type of leasehold to you have (ie..a month to month or year to year lease)? As far as the temperature is concerned, the landlord is liable for providing heat during the winter. This derives from the landlord's duty to provide the essentials for living (such as water, heat and no rodents or animanls).
