Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Connecticut

detrimental business

How do I keep a detrimental business from moving into an area too close to residential properties? We are worried about health issues as well as property value issues and safety issues.

This has to do with a trucking school that wants to move into our little neighborhood. The town was fighting it, but the lawyer that they hired just didn't show up at a hearing, as he says that he didn't have time to prepare for it. And now the appellate court just voted against the town's request to reopen the suit.

This is happening in Seymour, Connecticut. If you can help guide me in the direction that I could attempt to fight this mess, I would really appreciate it. I am afraid for my health and the health of my children.

thank you

Stacey
