Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Connecticut

Real Estate

I am in the process of purchasing a condo. There have been three offers and counter offers (only one of which was signed by me, the others were all oral agreements) and was told by my agent that my bid was accepted on Monday the 12th of february. On the morning of hte 13th she was on her way to the bank to put my deposit money in escrol and was informed that I was in a multiple offer situation (the seller never signed my bid, or so I am being told) and I could change my bid. Is this leagal and what would my next step be.

Re: Real Estate

As a general rule of law, an oral contract for the sale of land is not enforceable. As a result, simply because you make an offer, a contract has not formed. There are certain exceptions but this is the general rule.

Re: Real Estate

It would appear you are indeed in a multiple offer situation. Until everyone has "signed on the dotted line" an offer is only that. An Offer. You dont have a binding contract on real estate until all have signed off.

If you need ny assistance with your Connecticut Closing, i would be happy to help you. I have been closing loans in CT for 20 years and have reasonable fees.
