Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

My grandfather's house left to me thru a will

Hi, my grandfather left me half of his house in a will before he died, in Bridgeport, Conneticut. His wife wants to sell the house now, she is not doing well. She is leaving her half to her niece. My question is what kind of lawyer do a need to hire, if I do need to hire one. From my half, my mom and my aunt half two halfs, I have the largest share. What do I have to do? Please inform me. Where can I find a good lawyer that can help me? Someone is already interested in the property. Thank you for your help.

Since it appears that the property is situated in Connecticut, you will need to employ a Connecticut attorney in this process.

Please let me know if you would like me to recommend an attorney in that area.

Hello.

You will need an attorney who practices both probate law and real estate law. Your attorney will need to examine the deed that is recorded on the land records, as well as any wills or estate planning documents of your grandfather and his wife, in order to properly determine title to the property. If your grandfather's estate did not go through probate, you would have to probate the estate in order to clear title. From there, it is a straightforward process to sell the property.

At this point, you should contact an attorney who practices these types of law and have him/her review all the relevant documents. Your attorney will let you know what paperwork you need to complete. Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Re: My grandfather's house left to me thru a will

You need a CT attorney who practices both Probate and Real Estate law.

If there is no issue as to your interest in the house, then assuming your grandfather's estate has been closed and the title showing your interest is in your name, then the only remaining issue is how to protect his wife's half interest in the home. So she needs someone who practices elder law in CT.

Good luck.
