my lawyer told me to day that he contacted the other lawyer handling my aunts estate. he said he should consider a preliminary distribution. could you tell mewhat is a preliminary distribution

I assume you told your lawyer that you needed the money. Often, the beneficiaries don't get their money (the distribution) until the estate is fully settled, and that may take 8 months or so. However, the executor can give out some (or all) of the money early (preliminarily). That's called a preliminary distribution.
