Legal Question in Workers Comp in Connecticut

Boss deducting $ from commissions

Hello,

My boss is deducting monies from my commission based salary. She totals the amount I of sales I did, subtracts my commission (50%) then deducts another 11 1/2 percent off of my pay and says it is for her costs. This doesn't seem ethical. Shouldn't the costs be deducted from us both. I have to pay for my own labcoats and some other personal supplies.

The answer to your question largely depends on your employment status (employee vs. independent contractor) as well as on any employment/consulting agreement you may have with your boss.
