Legal Question in Workers Comp in Connecticut

A Florida heart doctor

January 1st 1993 I received a virus while working; it took out about of my heart,

I went to the worker man's compensation court and won my case with Fireman's fund Insurance Company, my Company's insurance company. In Connecticut.

I have now moved to Paisley Florida from Uncasville CT.

I have Cardiomyopathy (congestive heart frailer) and have been under doctor's care in Connecticut since 1993 with no problem getting the doctor paid for services rendered.

Because of my condition I would like to find a heart doctor in the Lake county area as close to Paisley as I can.

My problem is that I can not find a heart doctor that handles worker compensation cases.

Of all the problem with dealing with moving this would have been the last thing that I though would go wrong!

Can you help me or at least point me in the right direction?

Thank-you

Re: A Florida heart doctor

This is a real big problem in Florida because the workers' compensation fee schedule is so low (even below medicare reimbursement) and the endless requests for documentation and slow payment from insurance companies. Here is a way to start: Go to www.corvel.com CorVel is a medical managed care network that provides workers' managed care in Florida. Do a provider look-up and select "Workers' compensation" as the network. Put in your zip code and select within 50 miles. Select the specialty "cardiology" and "select all". This should give you a list of cardiologists within areasonabe drive that probably accept workers' compensation. If you can, check out the doctors with neighbors, other family etc... to get to see if they like them. Then provide the list to your workers' compensation adjuster and have the adjuster contact the doctors office. Becaue this is an out of state case, the very low fee schedule does not apply and the doctors office can negotiate a higher rate with the carrier which may increase the chances taht they will accept your case. As you have found out, if you call directly they will probably tell you no. Let me know if you need further assistance.
