Legal Question in Criminal Law in District of Columbia

I have been applying for jobs and i keep getting rejected based on my background check. I had previous charges that were either dropped or either probation in which I met all of the probation requirements. The charges were in the District of Columbia and Maryland. What can I do to clear my record or explung the charges that is hendering me from getting employment any where.
