Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in District of Columbia

My son's paternal grandfather said he needs my son's social security number to add him as a beneficiary in his will. Is this correct?

He doesn't need it for aimple will. However, if he's the beneficiary for a life insurance policy or a bank account (yes). You should ask for more specifics. He may have not explained it to you properly.
