credit card misuse

a wife has used her husbands identity (social security number) to obtain 7 different credit cards and has charged over 30k to said cards. this was done without the husbands knowledge. what can legally be done about this.

If they are NOT still legally married, then he could file a police report as a victim of identity theft. Of course, the police may arrest her and that will create all sorts of problems [especially if they have children]

If they are still legally married, then I suggest that the husband consider filing a bankruptcy to eliminate the debt. If he does not qualify for a chapter 7, at least a chapter 13 will stop the late fees and crazy interest.

Either way, it is a no-win situation for him.
