Are there any limitations for a convicted felon who wants to start a business?

Depends upon the business and if there are any State or County licensing requirements. Generally the answer is no.

It depends on the type of business and the licenses you may need to operate the business. For example, there may be a restriction on obtaining a liquor license. You should find out what federal, state or local licenses you will need, and then contact the government offices in charge of issuing such licenses to learn if any limitations apply if the business is owned and/or operated by a convicted felon.
