Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Boyfriend Buying a Car

My boyfriend of 3 years wants to buy a car for me but purchase it in my name so when its paid for I own it. But I want to have a contract stating that he is responsible for payment, and if we break up he will give me the amount he sold my car for (i gave him my old vehicle as a trade) and he will take possession of the vehicle and make the appropriate payments.

Re: Boyfriend Buying a Car

He is GIVING you a gift and you want a contract? Your best course here is to just keep your own car or buy one yourself. You are asking for trouble tryng to set up what you envision. If you cannot afford the car, don't sign te paperwork. If he is buying it, put it in his name. When it is paid for, he can give it to you then.

Even if you have such a contract it woulud not stop the financing company from coming after you if the finance agreement is in your name or both of your names. If he finances it in his name and you have a contract that its your car that would protect you. Please contact for further assistance if you need it.
