If you commingle your assets you may end up that way. Do you have a prenuptial agreement?

I suggest you get a pre nup agreement before you extend yourself out there and be responsible for debt that you did not incur. Anytime money is co-mingled your assets can be attached.

One spouse is not responsible for the other spouse's debts. So you cannot be sued for them. Any thing held by the entireties cannot be touched.
