can a check collection company call you a dead beat

on 8/3/2002 a collection agency called my house asking for a person with my same name. not knowing who was calling i responded '' how can I help you ''

the rep. went into a world wind of alligations some of which where '' you are a dead beat pay your bills.. you are not going to get away with cheating his client (tjmax)and that he was going to turn this matter over to the D.A.''

first of all not my check or checking accountand they have made repeated calls after i explained that they have the wrong person. what can I do to stop them and maake them have a ''nice day''.

You should hire an attorney to file a fair debt collection lawsuit. Attorneys often do that on contingent fees and it is like a small personal injury lawsuit. They would have to pay you for calling you a dead beat.
