garnishment of dissability check

I have a friend that was a resident of NY but now resides in FL. He was deliquent on a credit card payment and the company has garnished his entire dissability check. He has no other income, he's loosing his apt., his car, etc. Is this legal?

Disability checks are generally not garnishable in Florida, though there are some exceptions. He should speak with a lawyer immediately.
