Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

High credit card debt

My husband and i have separate credit cards, his in his name and vise versa. He has a very high balance which concerns me and and i have no control over his spending. If something happens to him i can't imagine i would be responsible for his debts but i would like to know the legality of this situation. Thank you.

Re: High credit card debt

Your imagination is correct. You would not be legally responsible for your husband's credit card debt, so long as you are not a co-debtor or guarantor on your husband's credit card and are not an authorized signor who has charged anything to his credit card.
