Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I was incarcerated and upon release I was supposed to be sentenced to 5 years probation. 6 months after release I went if front of another judge (original one retired) with the amount of money that probation advised I needed to pay. Keep in mind while on work release money was deducted from my check every week for payment towards fines. I was told to have 5,000 dollars. I presented this to the court and the judge early termed me at that point (5yrs released in 6 mos 2009) Now 3 years later, a letter was sent to a relatives house demanding I pay 600.00 in court costs. Upon contacting the clerk they refuse to reread the case file and continue to demand this payment. Now I'm not an attorney or a judge but why would the judge release me from 5yrs in 6mos without full payment ? How do I dispute this ? I have attempted to locate the paperwork but, to no avail. I have moved twice since my release and have moved on. I do not see how 3 yrs later the clerks office can demand any type of payment on a closed case, signed by a judge. Unfortunately that judge is no longer a judge and a new judge whom I've never been in front of is now listed. Any ideas ???? Thank you

I'm sure the judge released you on the fines issue. He probably did not have the clerk fees in front of him. I suggest you just pay it and get on with your life. I have noticed in the past several months because of the economy that the clerk office here in Jacksonville has hired a collection agency as to parking tickets - I actually received a notice to appear for a ticket given to me several years ago with an accured interest. I had never been notified of the ticket and could not even remember parking in the area that they stated I had been. Needless to say - they are looking for money that was never collected.
