Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Joint Homeowner tenenants debt responsibilities

Two unrelated people currently are joint tenenants with right to survivorship. One has a stroke and requires placement in nursing home. Mortgage currently equally divided. Nursing home patient has extremely high credit card debts. Is the other party responsible for any of those debts? Can any of her social security and pension checks be used for mortgage payments or will it all be used by Medicare for nursing home expenses?
