Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Hi, im a 20 year old guy goes to school and have a full time job in the state of Florida. i have been recently charged with TRAFFICKING IN OXYCODONE more than 4 grams and less than 14 grams at osceola county. i really had nothing to do with all this and i never been involved in selling or buying drugs and i have a clean record for the past, nothing more than a speeding ticket. How ever, i have been pulled into this situation by a confidential informant who kept going after me for more than two months straight, this guy tricked me to get involved and he was being a threat source to me because he used to stop by my work place more than two times a day. Can someone please telll me what im looking into when i go to court? is it realistic for someone like me not to do jail time? im really helpless and need someone to help me

I am sorry to hear about that. You are facing MINIMUM prison time (three years). You need to consult with local defense lawyers now. A good lawyer may be able to help you avoid or minimize any jail time or perhaps get the case dismissed.

Good luck,

You should really hire an attorney because you are in a lot of trouble. Based on the amount being more than 4 grams and less than 14, there is a 3 year minimum mandatory prison sentence and $50,000 fine. What this means is that even with no record if you throw yourself on the mercy of the court, the judge has no choice but to give you the 3 year sentence. There's no time off for good behavior. It is day for day. The only way to get less time is by cutting a deal with the State or winning your case. Here in Orlando, the State doesn't really like cutting deals.

It does sound like you may have some pretty decent defenses available. You should have your lawyer explore the possibility of an entrapment defense.
