If a person is visiting someone else's home and dies as a result of taking that person's medication, can that person be held responsible in any way?

Yes they can. Depending on all the facts, they can be charged with accessory to murder/manslaughter. Or they could be charged in federal court, where they face a mandatory MINIMUM of 20 years prison, even with no prior record. This person needs to talk with an attorney right away.
