17 yr old arrested for shoplifting-felony, first offense

hello, i was wondering if anyone could help me, i got caught stealing 358$ worth of costume jewelry at dillards and i have a court date on the 17th. the cops kept trying to scare me and say it was a felony and were sarcastic and mean saying ''oh there goes college...'' but this is my first offense and i am just wondering if they can try me as an adult, what should i plead i was planning on no contest that what one of my friends said to do. but what is going to happen to me as the day comes closer, i get a little more nervous. my mom is freaking. HELP!!!
