Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was arrested for Petty theft for a $20.00 bill a girl said I took from her purse but she lost her purse and was was never found she saw me in the bathroom. They only arrested me for having 20.00 on me and they assumed i took it from her purse and she convinced her friends and says has witnesses saying they saw me but they never did its their word agains mine. I pleaded not guilty at the arrangement i dont have money for a lawyer im a single mom unemployed n the state wants a certificate completion for petty theft and 540 fine and they will drop charges as not convicted. I dont want a record, the state prosecutor said he would drop chargees and my record would show as not convicted. /or I could roll the dice and go to trial ha ve this people lie and gret 60 days in jail. I have a clean record they said i could expunge it. Is there a possible way to get a public defender aftetr i left the court house? What would you do in my case?

You need to fight this. Although the prosecutor said it won't be a conviction, it WILL BE ON YOUR RECORD. Get yourself a public defender and go to trial.
