Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I graduate nursing school in April 2009 in Florida. The nursing boards denied my application because i have a charge for schemes to defraud which was a felony for amount of $1990 with other defendents i just let them open up an account under someone elses name and used the gift card in march 2006 and i finished probatio july 2007. I got probation with adjudication withheld. THe state attorney and my lawyer told me at the time that it wouldn't affect me getting my license but now that FLorida has came out with this new statue I'm not eligible. I have worked so hard to turn my life around. What are my options? Can i get my felony charged lower even after i have completed my sentence?

You could get the charge sealed but you would still have to disclose to the nursing boards. I'm not sure on this, but I believe there is a time period you can wait and then reapply. You should ask them what you can do in this situation. YOu may be forever closed off from entering nursing, but I wouldn't give up so easily. There are always if you know how and whom to ask.
