Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Harassment, threats, texts, voicemails

I have an ex boyfriend who is Mancunian and still lives in Manchester. I broke up with him and he is enraged. He sends me texts, emails, and calls my cell practically non stop. He bought me a laptop for my birthday, and now he'd demanding that I send it to him, or he will send defaming emails, photos, videos(?) to my co workers, will make my life a living hell, will call work and tell everyone what kind of person I am, will call my neighbors, said he ordered a criminal background history on me and will show that to everyone, everything he can think of. I have 2 questions. (1)The laptop was a gift and I have the receipt for it, am I obligated to send it to him? (2)What can I do to get him to stop this contact and threats? I have every email, and most texts and voicemails he has left me. I need to know what would be the most effective and fast solution, since he is in England.

if it is a gifti is now owned by you.(like christmas gift).I would advise you to stop responding to his harrassingE-mails,calls ,etcIn order to discusss options against him in England I would need to talk to you to determine how far you want to take this matter.

Re: Harassment, threats, texts, voicemails

I have a friend who is a solicitor in a large firm in Manchester who may be able to help on that side of the Atlantic - I met him when I went to the University of Manchester.

It would appear to me that the guy bothering you may be violating Florida's threats and extortion statute, a felony, even though he is in England.

This guy bothering you may also be violating English law, too.

Warmest regards,

Stephen G. Cobb
