Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I was put on 6 months of probation for two misdemeanor cases of obtaining property in return for a worthless check. I was able to pay the restitution on both those cases however I didn't have any money for the court costs. At the end of the 6 months I of course was violated for not paying those court costs. I wrote to the judge to see if I could change it to community service instead and he said my case was "in receipt." Now the case is open for my violation.Since I have no job, no source of income whatsoever, can I ask for community service instead of jail time?This is my first offense. I'm still in high school also.

Of course you can ask. Whether the judge will do it or now depends on the judge. It would be better if you went in with your own attorney, but it sounds like you can't afford one, so you should ask for the public defender to help you fight this. They can't put you in jail if you don't have money or a source of income, however, you should confront your probation officer about this option and tell them this is your only option. Good luck.
