Re: Is selling weed a felony?

Selling "weed" is a third degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison, or five years probation, or a $5,000 fine.

It is likely that your friend could be admitted into a diversion program

I would seek out an attorney so he can get this taken care of promptly and then sealed.

Selling marijuana is considered a felony. Your friend should retain private counsel to represent him and try to get him into a diversionary program instead of facing a possibility of jail time. If he is able to do so, he may be able to avoid having a conviction on his record.
