Legal Question in DUI Law in Florida

DWI Question

I have a DWI conviction on my NYS drivers license. The orginial charge was in North Carolina in '05 while I was on vacation. This is my first and only time. I went to the class that I was told to take and my licesnse was suspended for 3 months but NYS will not give me a regular license because I have not paid the fine in North Carolina yet. I have a conditional license still for NYS. I am now moving to Florida. I am wondering when I go to the Florida DMV are they going to give me a regular Florida drivers license without a hassle?

Re: DWI Question

Probably not, they are in the interstate compact. Pay the fine and you'll be fine. If you cannot afford the fine you may be able to get the fine waived because of your indigency. Contact the lawyer who handled your case and see if there is a hearing you can have to get the fine waived.

Good luck.
