Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Florida

i played on a cd months ago and have not yet been paid. I was sent a release form and an very low offer to sign my rights away this week. They are releasing on their own label Oct 6th, but they have a major dist co. They also have millions of dollars in the bank.

My question is, can they release the cd without my written release? What can I do to assure a reasonable payday here?

thank you.

Contact an attorney to review the release. Once signed, you will probably not have any rights. Most attorney's will either charge you a consultation fee or may even give you a free consultation.

If you sign the release, you will probably no longer have any rights. They *can* release the cd without your written release, but you will still have rights to your work in that case.

You must retain an attorney who specializes in entertainment law to ensure you do not relinquish rights unnecessarily and to ensure you receive reasonable compensation for your work. Please seek the advice of counsel without delay.

Best of luck.
