Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am 10 weeks pregnant and my fianc (biological father) has just left me, turned off my electric, left my 3 year old son and I with no rent money and stated he wants nothing to do with the baby. What are the chances that if he fights for custody when the baby is born that he will win? I currently live in Florida.

There is not supposed to be a preference between the parents, but in my experience, especially with young children, the Courts tend to favor the mother.

I suggest that within 4 months after the child's birth, you should retain counsel to establish paternity, child custody, and child support

If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.

If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area, I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation. The main office is in Dunedin, with a satellite location in Tampa.

Feel free to Google me.

Mr. Goldstein gave you good advice. However, you did not state is the 3 year old is also his child. If so you need to file immediately for child support and also request a temporary needs for support for yourself. contact my office is you are in the Jacksonville, Florida area.
