Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child custody - education

My ex husband has custody of my two chuldren (boy 8, daughter 5). I recently went to my son's school to get copies of report cards and etc. I was told that I am not allowed to get any info due to the fact that my ex did not put my name on the school list. I do have shared parental rights and the Court's guidelines said that I should get all info regarding my son's school activity (I haven't seen a report card in years, my ex simply does not give them to me, his answer is that he is the primary parent and I don't need to see anything. Can I take him to court for contempt?? you can email an answer. Thanks.

Re: child custody - education

The answer is most likely yes, but a review of the marital settlement agreement or Final Judgment would be necessary to answer the question fully. In many cases like yours, you would be entitled to reimbursement for your attorney fees paid to enforce your parental rights. Good Luck.
