Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child support garnishment

In a court ruling in Florida, I was ordered to pay X amount in child support. I live in Ohio now, and no longer make as much as I did when the order was enforced. I have been sending money to the Florida court on a weekly basis, but it is only $20, compared to the $120 that I actually owe. Right now, I cannot afford to go to Florida to contest the original order. So my question is, if they find out where I am currently employed, can I still be garnished the full amount even though I am making an effort to pay what I can? Also, is there any way to change the ruling based on the fact that my income has changed drastically, without having to travel to Florida?

Re: child support garnishment

You, or your attorney, must seek a modification of the support order in Florida due to your change of circumstances.
