Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

child support

I currently pay 17% child support for one child. we both (myself and the mother of the child, not living together) live in Florida, but the case originated in New york. Should I have the case moved to Florida being that wages in Florida are much lower than in New York? I feel I should be paying less

If the child lives in Florida, a Motion to Modify Child Support would be proper here if you have proof of a substantial change of circumstances. Before you invest in litigation, you may wish to calcualte the approximate amount that child support would be in Florida by visiting:

and complete the Child Support Guidelines worksheet.

Re: child support

If your ACTUAL wages are substantially lower now that you work in Florida and all parties involved live in Florida, you can petition a Florida court (where you live or where the child lives) to modify child support.
