Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My daughter is 16 years old. I recently found out that she has been spending the night with an 18 year old girl at the girl's parent's house when I thought my daughter was at her best friend's house. I believe they have been having sexual relations because the 18 year old claims to be gay. About 6 months ago, I confronted the 18 year old and told her to stay away from my daughter. Is there anything I can do legally to keep this girl away from my daughter?

In FL, a 16 year old may consent to sex with someone under the age of 24. See the "statutory rape" statute F.S. 794.05 available at http://www.leg.state.fl.us/STATUTES.

As a parent, your child (under 18) is your responsibility and must listen to you. You can discipline your child - spanking is not recommended, but you can take away her phone, her car, her privileges to stay the night over at anyone's house, etc.

If you are afraid for your child based upon legal grounds, it is possible that you could obtain a temporary injunction against contact (a "restraining order"). I don't think that would fly very far, though, in this situation.
