i filed for divorce my soon to be ex had 20 days to respond she did not my lawyer got a court date now she is responding an wanting allamoney etc etc... can she do this or is my lawyer just wanting another 2000. for nothing

Motions to set aside defaults are routinely granted by the court if good cause can be shown why a party missed a deadline to answer. Courts do this because the courts prefer to determine cases on their merits.
