Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

guardianship/TPR

my question is..we have guardenship(court ordered) of our nephew..his bio-mother is in prision in NC for second degree murder..has 15 years..we have had guardenship since the child was 8.5 months old he is now 3 yrs old..he does not know her..can we file for termination of parental rights in florida, since we live here or will we need to file in NC?? We want to adopt the child..he knows us as his parents... am not sure about the laws in florida about TPR or if we have to go to NC to TPR? Since we live in Florida we should be able to use the laws here--correct??

Thanks

Re: guardianship/TPR

You can do this in Florida. Since the sentence is that long you would have a good chance. If you are in Duval county or surrounding areas, please call our office if you need help.
