Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Husband wants former wife to change her name to maiden

All paperwork is ready to go regarding uncontested divorce with children involved. Former to be wife does not want to give up her married name. She has disgraced the family and the husband does not want her to keep his name. Can he push this issue to force her through the courts to be ordered to have his name taken from her and her maiden name or whatever other name she chooses implemented?

Re: Husband wants former wife to change her name to maiden

Generally, a Judge will not require a wife to change her married name back to her maiden name. This is particularly so when there are minor child(ren) involved. The choice is generally left up to the Wife.
