Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Mediation notification

I am divorced 2+ years. My ex vacated the settlement as some numbers were not accurate, We have been to mediation since then and nothing was resolved.

I got a letter in the regular mail yesterday April 11 at 3pm, about mediation on Monday, April 14th. Can his lawyer do that? I have no lawyer.

Re: Mediation notification

Mediation is probably a good thing, but you don't want to go up against a lawyer without a lawyer on your side. Call his lawyer and the mediator (or mediation department) on Monday and tell them the mediation will have to be postponed until you have time to find representation. They may try to charge you a fee for cancelling the mediation, but stand firm and tell them you refuse to pay, given that you weren't notified until the last minute. You still may have to pay, but you should try to fight it.

Retain counsel to represent you.
