Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Obtaining legal rights from family members.

I am living with a man for 28 years now. He is now very disabled and has only a few more years to live. He asked me to find out how he can go about legally giving me control of funeral and cremation wishes; though we are not legally married, I am his legal beneficiary for his Life Insurance and he has talked with all family members about this. They all agree that they want me to take care of this matter when the time comes, as we live in Florida and wish to cremate him here, and his family is in New York. They have always considered me their daughter-in-law and know that I have the financial means to carry out his wishes. Is there anything we can do while he is still alive to give me the power to attend to his final needs? Him and family, as well as myself would feel a lot more secure and prepared for when the time does come if we were able to establish my being able to legally handle his death and final resting wishes. We have absolutely no Estate values involved, we do not own a home or anything that would be considered an obsicle. We are both disabled and on fixed incomes and my being his beneficiary, I would be using his Life Insurance to take care of all these final matters. How would we go about this while he is still alive

He should dictate his wishes in his will.
