Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am not receiving child support from my ex husband. My divorce was final in the state of GA and I now reside in the state of FL. What state do I call to get my child support enforced?

If you want to go though the state, you can contact the Florida Department of Revenue, who will then contact the appropriate department in whatever state he lives.

However, things may move along more effieciently and quickly if you contact a lawyer in the state in which he lives.

Hello: This is to offer one more response to your question. I just had a client with a similar issue. As such, I spent considerable time researching the law on this. As long as you and the child have lived here for more than six mos., you can file a Motion to have a case opened in a Florida Court and ask that jurisdiction be taken over by the Florida Court. However, it is not guaranteed that jurisdiction will be moved. The two Courts (Fla. & Ga.) will need to communicate with each other and determine which jurisdiction is best for the case to reside in.

If my office can be of any assistance, please give us a call. Tom Rosenblum
