Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Separation vs Divorce

Does the state of Florida allow a legal separation instead of a divorce? If not, is there something else that can be done along those lines instead of a divorce?

Re: Separation vs Divorce

Florida does not have something akin to a legal separation. If you and your husband are amicable, you may be able enter into a written Separate Maintenance agreement adressing all of the financial issues, and custody, visitation if there are children. If an agreement is not possible, you could file an action with the Court to establish child support and/or alimony unconnected to Divorce.
