Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

step parent adoption

I have 3 kids from my 1st marriage, and have remarried. My husband wants to adopt the kids. My ex has not seen or talked to the kids in over 2 yrs, nor has he ever paid any child support. My question is, Since we are not able to afford an attorney, can we do the adoption on our own with the courts and if so how do we start? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many courts have self-help offices with forms. You should call your local court or clerk to inquire if they have such a program. If not, perhaps there is a local legal aid, or low-income attorney service that may be able to help you.
