Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Teenage rights State of FL

My daughter has been in my sole care for 11yrs. Her father has been paying child support since 1998. We were never married. He is now filing for Shared parental responsability and secondary residential parent. Does she have any say at all?

Re: Teenage rights State of FL

A child does not have a right to refuse contact with a parent. Presuming her father is filing a parental responsibility/time sharing lawsuit (as secondary residential responsibility no longer exists), he will get some parenting time, eventually. You might want to answer that lawsuit with a request that the Court require everyone to participate in counseling for the reunification, and to follow the recommendations of the counselor. That may help your child deal with this new parent about to be in her life.
