Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

X filed ptm.I printed copies of legal forms off internet to respond.he sent me his financial info already.he sent me bank statements, pay stubs and tax returns.the tax returns are a joint filing.will a judge let me use that joint return as him having money at his disposal to use?i see also on that return a schedule c form for a business.he is retired and says he doesn't work.that is the reason i ask about using that joint tax return.he didn't send me the entire return just a few pages.it says self prepared stamped on it and then on 1 page it has a preparers name on it.looks suspicious.grateful for any answer

You can use probably use whatever documents he provided per Mandatory Disclosure. At a minimum, you should make certain that he fully complies with Mandatory Disclosure.

Please do not take this the wrong way, but the nature of your inquiry indicates that you are probably in over your head. While I admittedly participate in this forum primarily as an inexpensive way to reach potential clients, you clearly would likely benefit from retaining legal counsel a.s.a.p.

In Florida, with family law cases, depending on the parties' comparative financial resources, the Courts have the discretion to hold one party responsible for all, or part, of the other's attorney fees and costs. In other words, if the other party has significantly stronger financial resources, do not assume that you will not be able to afford to retain an attorney.

If you opt to proceed without the assistance of counsel, be aware that you will not be entitled to a do over if things go badly.

The above information is provided without any consideration/payment having been received, and without full knowledge of all of the facts.

An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.
