Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida

Fmla

I am having surgery on both hands carpal tunnel and trigger fingers and ulna nerve damage, will be out longer than 3 mos recovery . I have already been threatened that I will lose my job, for me to consider this while I set up my leave. I do have STD,and LTD at my employment and FMLA whats the use if Im being told Im going to get fired

Check to see if your company qualifies for the FMLA. I think you need 25 employees to be governed by the statute. If the company does quality for FMLA, then you cannot be fired. STD and LTD are simply insurance benefits. They do not protect jobs.

If you and your company qualify for FMLA then you can not be fired for using approved time. STD/LTD do not protect your job, only your income.
