Legal Question in Federal Tort Claims in Florida

Father relocated from FL to TX, which state has jurisdiction as far as visitatio

My husband and I have moved to TX from FL. They were given joint custody with his home beign where the child is to reside primarily. Mother was to see the child every other weekend and on alternating holidays. Mother has not payed child support (except 2x) in the last two years. What can we do to get full custody and modify visitation? Do we do it in FL or TX? Child was sent to visit mother over the summer and was not returned when promised. My husband then went to get the child. We are afraid mother will kidnap the child next time. Mother's family tried to hide child and she has moved and we have no idea where.

Re: Father relocated from FL to TX, which state has jurisdiction as far as visit

You should speak to a family attorney in Texas. They will need to know the exact date you moved into Texas to best answer what court will have jurisdiction over the child.

Also speak to the attorney about the options for the child support arrearages and the best strategy to approach them.

Always remember to document as much as you can.

Being new to Texas, if you are not familiar with attorneys in that area...ask any attorney and she/he can easily give you a few names to call in your area.
