How to postpone a civil court date

I need to know how to respond to a scheduled court date at the civil court of Florida. my date is scheduled withtin the next 2 weeks and I am unable to be there.

If you do not appear, and no continuance is granted, you could be admitting liability and a default entered against you. You can usually have an attorney represent you if you provide settlement authority, and it depends on whether it is a small claims case or not.
