Can I get in trouble?

I'm 18, I'll be 19 in August. I'm dating a guy who's only 17 right now & will turn 18 in January. Can I get in trouble for just dating him when we're not having sex? Everyone says we can but I wanted to know for sure.

There is nothing illegal about dating him. Having sex with him would be another matter altogether (and a different answer).
