Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

We live in Esters, FL. We lease our home on a one year lease. We had a fire in our garage that was started by sparks from an angle grinder getting into a trash can. The fireman cut down the garage door. most of the damage is smoke damage confinded to the garage. The homeowners ins. company says that they will sue us for the damages and their deductable even when the fire inspector ruled this as an accendent. Can they do this?

The homeowner and the insurance company can file a lawsuit due to the occurrence of the fire and the resulting damage. Whether or not you are liable for the damages will depend on the express contract language of the lease agreement and if the Court were to determine that the accident was caused by negligent acts.
