Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employee Policy Changes

My husband works for a company where the majority of his sales is made from incoming telephone and email leads. He has worked there for 6 months as was performing above the Rooky criteria stated in his handbook. One day, his department changed the policy to say if you did not perform the specified amount of sales last period you will taken off the incoming call and email rotation. It was stated that the Rooky criteria no longer existed. Is a company required to give a notice prior to implementing a new performance criteria? Can a company penalize a person for not meeting the criteria of policy that had not even been implemented?

Re: Employee Policy Changes

The law in Florida provides that an employee can be demoted, fired, etc. for any reason at any time--the legal term is "at will" employment. As a result, the facts provided do not reveal any unlawful conduct. Wish I could have provided better news for you and your husband.
