Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Employees rights

When I received my paycheck last week I was very surprised to find that $1200. had been deducted. My employers said that they had reviewed my hours and that I did not qualify for benefits that they had already paid me. Also, I have been paid by the hour at $25.00 for the past 3 years, putting in many extra hours. On this same paycheck, they paid me a straight 8 hr. day without telling me of the change, lowering my pay even more. This could be the result of me pushing for health insurance--I am 63,but a good worker and well liked by the other employees.

Re: Employees rights

It is illegal for your employer to deduct money from paycheck if you have already performed the work (i.e. earned the wages) in question. Moreover, if you are paid on an hourly basis, you are legally entitled to time and a half for any hour worked in execess of 40 in a particular week.
